PEACHTREE BOULEVARD INITIATIVE

The Peachtree Boulevard Project has transformed the city's most notable stretch of Peachtree in Buckhead into a livable, walkable, bikable and drivable promenade. The transformation will allow Peachtree to live up to its reputation as Atlanta's "signature street." It will become a destination, not just a thoroughfare. Wider sidewalks, a tree-lined median, bike lanes, underground utilities — everything a thriving urban community needs

The transformation covers a 1.5 mile stretch of Peachtree Road through the heart of Buckhead. Phase One, from Maple to Stratford, is now underway and scheduled for completion in the fall of 2007.

The Peachtree Boulevard transformation features includes:

• 11,500 linear feet of new 11-foot wide sidewalks and additional green space at the curbs
• 186 willow oak trees and 50,000 square feet of green space
• 83 modern benches
• 188 modern light posts
• Bike lanes
• Enhanced transit stops
• 6-foot-wide, tree-lined median with flower plantings

The Peachtree Boulevard transformation is a project of The Buckhead Community Improvement District, Georgia Department of Transportation and the City of Atlanta.
